Before an audience of over 1,300 people, Puerto Rican model Sofia Jirau debuted this week as a motivational speaker at the Coca-Cola Music Hall.
"I am very happy and grateful that now I also give talks and motivational as a speaker. And I wanted to do it in my country. I will always carry this moment in my heart. Let's keep breaking barriers!" said the model with Down syndrome.
At the conference, Jirau told her story of overcoming to inspire others to dream big and live without limits.
The entrepreneur also revealed how she managed to model on the most important fashion runways and how she became the first model with Down syndrome for a prestigious lingerie brand.
Jirau, currently considered the Global Ambassador for Inclusion, emphasized that to achieve your dreams you have to work hard and have discipline.
She also emphasized the importance of people with functional diversity being able to have a job, study and break barriers.
According to Jirau, in order to embark on this new facet as a speaker, she prepared herself for the past few months by taking diction and English classes.
Jirau was one of eight speakers who participated in the Back to the Future event, organized by ACUDEN and the Department of the Family, for the educators of the 181 Head Start and Early Head Start centers in Puerto Rico.
"I am very happy and grateful to motivate many teachers to continue dreaming without limits with their students. I want to inspire the whole world to live without limits," said Jirau.
The new motivational speaker, who received a standing ovation and the validation she was looking for from her first audience, aspires to take this new facet to a global level.
